Bedugul, Bali – April 2025 – In celebration of Earth Day this April, Handara Golf & Resort Bali proudly reaffirms its dedication to sustainability and responsible tourism. As a Travelife Certified Responsible Resort and the winner of the International Sustainability Award (ISA) in 2023, Handara continues to lead by example in its efforts to protect the environment and promote conscious travel.
This year, Handara is honored to be nominated in two categories for the prestigious World Golf Awards 2025:

- Asia’s Best Eco-Friendly Golf Facility
These nominations reflect Handara’s ongoing commitment to integrating sustainable practices across every part of the resort — from the fairways to the front desk.
Sustainable Golf in Action.
Handara’s golf course stands as a leading example of sustainable golf practices in Indonesia. With a focus on environmental responsibility, we use minimal chemicals and water on the course and maintain our fairways with locally adapted grass that thrives in the highland climate. Since the start of our sustainability program, we have planted over 600 trees, enriching biodiversity and contributing to carbon capture. Guests are also invited to take part in this green initiative — making each round of golf more meaningful for the planet.
Sustainable Operations from Front to Back.
As part of its mission to support responsible tourism in Bali, Handara is steadily moving toward a zero plastic waste policy across both its golf course and resort. Single-use plastics are no longer allowed in guest-facing areas, and guests are encouraged to join the journey toward a cleaner, greener future. We’ve also adopted a “less is more” approach, offering only essential, eco-conscious amenities to reduce waste. In addition, we are making strides to limit paper usage in our daily operations — ensuring that sustainability touches every part of the guest experience.
Internal Culture of Sustainability.
All Handara staff are equipped with reusable tumblers and eco-bags, and the resort enforces a clear SOP to avoid single-use plastic entirely among employees. Our efforts extend to our suppliers, whom we actively encourage to adopt similar waste-reducing practices — creating a chain of sustainability that goes beyond our doors.
Waste Management.
Handara Golf & Resort Bali is dedicated to comprehensive waste management, focusing on environmental responsibility and enhancing guest experiences. We are actively working implementing sustainable practices to significantly reduce waste. Additionally, organic waste is composted on-site, decreasing landfill contributions and providing natural fertilizer for our gardens. These initiatives reflect our unwavering commitment to innovative and responsible waste management, ensuring a sustainable environment for future generations.
Handara Giveback: Supporting the Community and the Planet.
Through our Handara Giveback Program (CSR), we proudly support organizations with shared missions. This includes supporting the volunteer for Sungai Watch, a movement focused on protecting and cleaning Bali’s rivers. Additional we also work with Plastik Detox Bali, which provides staff training sessions aimed at raising awareness and implementing waste prevention strategies within our business operations. This empowers our employee to adopt and promote sustainable practices both professionally and personally.
