Resort Guidelines: Do’s and Don’ts for Nyepi 2025
Balinese Hindus do not celebrate the New Year of the Saka calendar with lavish parties. Instead, they observe it through meditation and complete silence. No activities are allowed during this sacred day, as it is governed by four mandatory religious prohibitions: no pleasure (Amati Lelanguan), no travel (Amati Lelungan), no fire (Amati Geni), and no work (Amati Karya).
This year, Nyepi Day falls on 29 March 2025. On this day, we will not be able to accommodate any check-ins or check-outs. Since you will be staying with us during Nyepi, please take note of the following:
- The silence begins at sunrise (6:00 AM) on 29 March 2025 and lasts for 24 hours.
- All shops will be closed.
- Guests must remain within the resort area.
- Please keep noise levels to a minimum when playing music or watching TV.
- No traffic is allowed anywhere in Bali.
- Ngurah Rai Airport will be completely closed on 29 March 2025, with no arrivals or departures. All connecting airports worldwide have been informed in advance.
- The only activities permitted across Bali are emergency medical services (such as hospitals and maternity wards) and limited airport arrivals. The entire island will observe complete silence.
Despite these restrictions, the resort will continue to operate essential services.
